The Tan Kah Kee Memorial Site, located in Jimei District, Xiamen, comprises Aoyuan, Tan Kah Kee's former residence, the Tan Kah Kee Life and Deeds Exhibition Hall, Guilai Hall, and Guilai Garden. Tan Kah Kee (1874-1961), a native of Jimei Village, Tong'an County, Fujian Province (present-day Jimei District, Xiamen), was a patriotic overseas Chinese leader, renowned industrialist, educator, philanthropist, and social activist. He remained deeply entrenched in his motherland and cherished his hometown, founding a series of world-renowned institutions, including Jimei School and Xiamen University.

Tan Kah Kee Life and Deeds Exhibition Hall

Located west of Tan Kah Kee's former residence, this three-story building, built in 1983, covers over 700 square meters. The exhibition hall comprehensively and objectively depicts Tan Kah Kee's lifelong journey through Southeast Asia, his arduous journey establishing businesses, his heartfelt devotion to his hometown, his generous investment in education, his participation in the Xinhai Revolution, his organization and support for the Anti-Japanese War and National Salvation Movement, and his return to China to build the new China and participate in political life.

Return Garden

Located at No. 1 Shangnan Road, Jimei Subdistrict, Jimei District, the sanctuary consists of the Return Hall and the Tan Kah Kee Statue Garden. Built in 1962 in accordance with Tan Kah Kee's will and the instructions of Premier Zhou Enlai, the Return Hall symbolizes the unwavering love of overseas Chinese who cherish their homeland and return to their motherland for reunion. A bluestone statue of Tan Kah Kee sits within the main hall.

The Tan Kah Kee Statue Park was built in 1984. The statue was created by the famous sculptor Pan He. It is made of copper, 2.3 meters high and weighs 1 ton. Behind the statue is a screen wall engraved with Chairman Mao Zedong's high evaluation of Tan Kah Kee: "The banner of overseas Chinese, the glory of the nation."
