Introducing Hongshan Park

Hongshan Park is located on Hongshan Mountain in the middle section of Siming South Road. The park's highest point is 125 meters above sea level, higher than Sunlight Rock on Gulangyu Island across the river. From this vantage point, you can gaze out over Wanshi Mountain to the east, the Gulangyu landscape to the west, the Dadan and Erdan Islands to the south, and the cityscape of Xiamen to the north. It offers excellent views from a high point in the city.

The mountain once housed Hongshan Temple. Due to the unique terrain and unpredictable winds, the area in front of the temple weaves a crisscross pattern of raindrops, creating the spectacular sight of "Hongshan Weaving Rain," one of Xiamen's eight scenic spots. In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, this area housed Zheng Chenggong's troop stronghold, known as Jiayu Fortress, the remains of which still exist. Later generations carved the five inscriptions "Yanping Junwang Garden" on a boulder mid-mountain. Now a park, it's surrounded by flowers and trees, with stone paths winding through the steep cliffs and shady trees.

Standing on the west slope, the view of Gulangyu resembles a horizontal landscape painting, a rare vantage point. Next to Jiayu Village on the mountaintop is Jiaer Garden, a replica of an ancient castle, featuring ponds, waterside pavilions, terraces, flower gardens, lawns, and natural stone features, including a finely crafted "Sleeping Child" stone sculpture.
