The former residence of Tan Kah Kee is a unique, one-story building covering 4,000 square meters. Its white stone walls and green tiled roof make it a representative example of southern Fujian architecture. In the courtyard stands a full-length bronze statue of Tan Kah Kee, behind which stands a square piece of white marble engraved with the eight golden characters inscribed by Chairman Mao Zedong: "Overseas Chinese Banner, National Glory."
The second-floor reception room, dining room, studio, and bedroom are all furnished as they were during Tan's lifetime. A three-story building to the west of the former residence houses the Tan Kah Kee Life Exhibition Hall, featuring three sections: "Business in Southeast Asia, Deep Love for the Country," "Devoting Funds to Education, Unwavering Perseverance," and "Devoting All to Patriotism." These exhibits showcase Tan Kah Kee's ingenuity in business, his diligence and frugality, his noble character in devoting funds to education, and his sincere patriotism.
