The Xiamen Library's branch on Gulangyu Island, also known as the Zhongshan Library, is located at No. 4 Zhonghua Road, Gulangyu Island (next to the Mayouhan Football Stadium). Founded in 1924 as the "Private Gulangyu Library," it was renamed the "Zhongshan Library" in 1928 in honor of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. In January 1953, it was taken over by the Xiamen Municipal Government and became a branch of the Xiamen Municipal Library, retaining the "Zhongshan Library" name. Covering 1,520 square meters, it features a book lending area and an electronic reading area, housing 20,000 books and implementing a "one-card-for-all" system for borrowing books and periodicals.
