Eslite Bookstore Suzhou is Eslite Bookstore's first flagship store in mainland China. Designed by renowned Taiwanese architect Yao Renxi, the nearly 50,000-square-meter Eslite Bookstore Suzhou boasts not only a shopping mall, Eslite Bookstore, gourmet restaurants, and a café, but also a gallery, a multi-functional audio-visual exhibition hall, an experimental theater, and art and cultural spaces. In the future, Eslite Bookstore will host various cultural events, including lectures and theatrical performances. Upon completion, the Eslite Bookstore will be a comprehensive complex encompassing a bookstore, a literary salon, an experimental theater, an artist's studio, a music space, and cultural apartments.

Eslite Bookstore isn't so much a bookstore as it is a complex with the bookstore as its core. The building is beautifully designed, and upon entering through the east gate, you'll be greeted by the iconic 72-step staircase, 18 meters high and 6 meters wide. The bookstore offers a wide selection of books, with thoughtfully designated areas for customers to sit and read. Additionally, exquisite stationery shops, dessert shops, cafes, restaurants, and clothing stores are scattered throughout the floors, making it a perfect place for arty types to spend a whole day browsing.

The bookstore features 150,000 titles and 500,000 copies of Chinese and foreign books from 2,000 publishers worldwide, covering five major sections: Chinese and foreign literature, humanities and social sciences, art and design, lifestyle, and trend-based learning. You'll find a large selection of traditional Chinese books by Taiwanese authors, though prices are a bit high.
