Suixian Beihu, also known as Fengcheng Lake, is located in Suixian County, 68 kilometers west of Shangqiu. It originated in the late Ming Dynasty when Li Zicheng used water as a tactical weapon, breaching the Yellow River dike. The Yellow River rushed southward, submerging Suizhou City and forming the present-day Beihu Lake, with a history of approximately 400 years.
Sui County's Beihu Lake, with its mirror-like waters, islands shaped like green snails, and swaying willow trees, is known as the " Pearl of Eastern Henan . " Its clear, turquoise waters and islands, dotted with verdant trees and grass, resemble emerald jade dotted amidst the azure waters. Beihu's abundant water source, never drying up in winter, has nurtured the people of Sui County for centuries.
The three islands of West Lake are Mingfeng Island, Chenyang Island and Yiyuan Island. They are located on the surface of West Lake to the west of Beihu Scenic Area. The islands are surrounded by water, with willows and cattails lush around them. The environment is quiet and there are nearly a hundred species of birds living on the islands.
