Introducing Leping City Museum

Leping City Museum is located on West Street in Leping City. The exhibition room covers an area of ​​80 square meters and displays 210 cultural relics such as ceramics, stone tools, bronzes, jades, etc. from the Paleolithic Age to the Republic of China period that were unearthed and collected in the city.

In 1976, with the approval of the Provincial Cultural Affairs Bureau's Exhibition Group, Leping County established a cultural relics exhibition room, responsible for the preservation, promotion, and collection of cultural relics throughout the county. In 1984, with the approval of the County Party Committee, the Leping County Museum was established, sharing offices with the County Cultural Center and Library. In June 1989, the three museums were separated and established as independent institutions. The museum has an exhibition room and a warehouse, both located on the third floor of the newly built Cultural Heritage Library Building, totaling over 300 square meters.

In 1992, the county was renamed a city and adopted its current name. The Leping City Museum houses 1,060 cultural relics, including stone, pottery, porcelain, copper, iron, tin, jade, fossils, calligraphy, and handwritten inscriptions by central government leaders. Among them are a Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white underglaze red jade pot, a Northern Song Dynasty milky white glaze melon-shaped pot, and a porcelain gray plate inscribed by Tang Ying, the pottery supervisor during the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty, which are rare in China.
