Visit the tranquil Xiangji Temple to enjoy its peaceful ambiance and stunning Buddhist architecture. Explore the surrounding gardens and courtyards, meditate in the serene environment, and admire the intricate statues and artwork inside the temple.

Xiangji Temple, located on the bank of the Grand Canal in Hangzhou, was first built in the Song Dynasty and has a history of more than a thousand years. In those days, there was a lot of traffic on the Grand Canal. It was the first temple entering Hangzhou and the last temple leaving Hangzhou through the canal. It was also a must-go place for Buddhist believers in the Hangzhou-Jiaxing-Huzhou area to go from the canal to Lingyin and Tianzhu for pilgrimage, so it has a very high status in the canal and the Hangzhou Buddhist community.
Xiangji Temple, known as the " First Incense Temple of the Grand Canal , " was destroyed several times throughout history and rebuilt in 2009. It has now become a new centerpiece of the Hangzhou Grand Canal's nightscape. The White Pagoda is illuminated, and the paintings on the center of the square in front of the temple glow, their colorful patterns slowly changing.
Xiangji Temple originally housed two pagodas, built during the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty. Only one remains today. This eight-sided, nine-story pagoda, with a Sumeru pedestal at the base, is carved from white stone and resembles a wooden pavilion. Its brackets are modeled after the Song Dynasty style . A plaque inscribed with the characters " Ciyun " hangs on the east side of the third story. The south gate is half-open, and a door on the fifth story reveals a deity or Buddha emerging from within. The pagoda's structural techniques and relief carvings are representative of the Qing Dynasty.
