Qianjiang New Town is the modern central business district of Hangzhou, featuring skyscrapers, cultural landmarks, and riverfront development. The light show highlights the city’s urban development and celebrates Hangzhou as a vibrant, technologically advanced metropolis.
The light show takes place along the Qianjiang River in Hangzhou. Visitors can reach it via Metro Line 1 (to Wulin Square or Fengqi Road, then a short taxi or bus ride), by taxi or rideshare directly to the riverfront, or by walking if staying nearby.
The light show begins at sunset, typically around 6:30–7:00 PM, and lasts for 1–2 hours. The best times to visit are clear evenings in spring or autumn when temperatures are comfortable.
Viewing the light show from the riverfront is free. Some boat tours may charge a fee, which can be purchased online or at ticket counters near the docks.
No advance booking is needed for walking along the riverfront. For boat tours or special events, booking a few days in advance is recommended, especially on weekends.
1–2 hours are sufficient to enjoy the main light displays and take photos along the riverfront. Additional time is needed for boat rides or walking longer stretches.
Guided tours are limited; most visitors explore on their own. Some boat tours may provide guides in Chinese, and occasionally in English.
Start at one end of the riverfront, walk along the promenade to enjoy the light displays, stop at viewpoints for photos, and optionally take a boat tour for a different perspective. End near nearby cafes or cultural spots.
The attraction is a night-only experience, with the main light show occurring after sunset. Special seasonal light exhibitions may also be available.
The area can be busy on weekends and holidays. Weekday evenings are less crowded, especially early in the evening when the show starts.
Yes, the riverfront promenades are mostly flat and accessible. Some bridges may have ramps. Boat tours may have limited accessibility.
Cash is rarely needed; most shops, restaurants, and ticketed boat tours accept cards and mobile payments like Alipay and WeChat Pay.
Vegetarian options are widely available. Halal options may be limited, so it is recommended to check restaurants in advance.
Souvenir shops are limited; common items include postcards, LED-themed trinkets, and local handicrafts from nearby shopping centers.
