Beixing Park, located at the northernmost end of the Hangzhou Grand Canal, is named for its proximity to the Beixing Bridge. The park features seven groups of buildings in the Jiangnan water village style, arranged according to the astrological pattern of the Big Dipper . These buildings are named: Tianshu Hall, Tianji Garden, Tianquan Garden, Yuheng Pavilion, Kaiyang Pavilion, and Yaoguang Tower. The tallest observation pavilion in the center is named Beixing Pavilion, a reference to the North Star.
