It comprises 36 cultural attractions and over 500 natural sights, including the Beijing Baihujian Forest Park, the Back Garden Inn, the Primitive Forest Beach Bathing Beach, the Yan'an Cave Dwellings of the Great Man, a shooting range, the Millennium Ancient City (primitive tribe, Tang, Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties) Resort, and the Chuanmei Village Longevity Village. The scenic area boasts a magnificent, sprawling mass of peaks, earning it the nickname "Shenling Thousand Peaks," and is one of the renowned "Eight Scenic Spots of Yanping."
Stunning peaks, deep valleys, and flowing streams define the scenic area's three main scenic features. Since the Jin Dynasty, it has been a sacred site for imperial tours. The area also boasts the remains of 1,400-year-old temples and Taoist temples. It was once the birthplace of Kublai Khan's capital, Beijing, and the setting for Qiu Chuji's enlightenment and the creation of characters like Wukong and Bajie in Wu Chengen's Journey to the West.
The scenic area is surrounded by mountains on three sides, with only the southeast side being a plain. The unique topography has created a microclimate here that is different from the outside world.
The best time to visit is from May to October, when the climate is very pleasant and perfect for escaping the summer heat.
