Located in Shengjin Township, Turpan Prefecture, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, the Beshiha Thousand Buddha Caves are one of a series of Thousand Buddha Caves in Mutougou. Nestled against the Huoyan Mountain, they are approximately 5 kilometers west of the renowned Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves. Six caves remain, each in a rectangular, roofed form. A platform temple stands in front of the caves, and temple ruins are located adjacent to the western caves. Four of the caves contain surviving murals, similar in style to those found in the Bezeklik Caves, reflecting the influence of the Gaochang Uighur period and the splendor of the Wei and Jin dynasties.
