Lingguang Temple is located in Haiyuan, on the western foot of Mount Hua in Nanhua, 20 kilometers from the county seat. In 1042 AD, Li Yuanhao, King of Western Xia, and his beloved consort, Moyi, took up residence there. Their palace, nestled against the mountainside, featured pavilions and waterfronts, and boasted arched columns and brackets, stretching for miles. It was burned down in 1081 by the Song general Li Xian. While the buildings on the mountainside have been destroyed, ruins remain.
