Zhalang Island is a long peninsula extending southward from the junction of Honghai Bay and Jieshi Bay in Shanwei. It is known as the "Qilin Horn of Eastern Guangdong".
The southern tip of the peninsula protrudes into the sea, forming two scenic areas with very different scenery: the East Sea area is always surging with huge waves and crashing against the shore; the West Sea area is calm and peaceful with a surface like a mirror. The scenery on the island is charming, with blue sea, silver sand, strange rocks, unique rocks and ancient monuments complementing each other.
There are many scenic spots on the island. The Nanhai Guanyin Tourist Scenic Area is located in Dashi'ao, Nan'ao Island, covering an area of 300,000 square meters. The capes here are connected, the reefs are stacked, the harbors are intertwined, and the scenery is beautiful. According to legend, Guanyin was able to achieve enlightenment here and became one of the "Four Great Bodhisattvas". Therefore, many holy relics of Guanyin were left behind, as well as many magical and beautiful legends.
To the east of the peninsula lies a sandy beach stretching for thousands of meters, with water quality surpassing even that of Hawaii. Before liberation, the International Company built a "wave-blocking lighthouse" on Rock Island, not far from the peninsula. Its intense mercury reflection not only guides ships but also attracts fish and shrimp, making the area a prime natural fishing ground. Watching the sunrise and moonrise from Rock Island is a truly unique experience.
