Introducing Park Garden

Located at No. 8 Gaoqiao, Renmin Road, Pingmennei, the site was originally wasteland. In 1932, it was purchased by the Wang family, a Shanghai egg merchant, who built a garden there. It is the youngest garden in this ancient city. Now, the renovated Puyuan Garden has a new identity: the Taohuawu New Year Woodcut Picture Museum.

Surrounded by granite walls, Puyuan adopts a traditional gardening layout, with mountains and water as the primary feature. Stone-encased rockeries, undulating peaks, and curved bridges across pools create a sense of both gathering and separation. It features a four-sided hall, a flower hall, pavilions, and corridors. Lush trees and flowers include white pine, Podocarpus, magnolia, cherry blossoms, and azaleas. Most notable are two ground-planted five-needle pines, approximately two meters tall and thriving.
