Zhuxi Lake is an artificial reservoir built on Zhuxi Valley, a first-level tributary of the Nanhe River in Qionglai City. It lies between the Buddhist monastery Helin Zen Monastery and the Tantric Buddhist sanctuary Pantuo Temple, 8 kilometers from downtown Qionglai. The lake resembles a makeup mirror, and the mountains resemble eyebrows. During the Song Dynasty, Lu You and Wen Tong often visited this lake during their stay in Qionglai.
Zhuxi Lake is palm-shaped, dotted with green islands, surrounded by clear, lush green mountains and pristine waters. Bathed in sunshine by day and dotted with stars by night, the lake ripples, yachts race, and birds sing and butterflies dance on the shore, with egrets nestling in flocks. The harmonious beauty is breathtaking.
The scenic area consists primarily of three lakes and numerous small islands. Visitors can explore the lakes by boat or speedboat, admire the Tang Dynasty Thousand Buddha Rock Carvings, and relax by the lake, sipping tea and playing chess. Fishing enthusiasts are also welcome to fish freely within the lake, free of charge.
