Introducing Swallow Rock Park

Yanziji Park is located in the northeast corner of Mufu Mountain in Qixia District, Nanjing, facing the Yangtze River to the north. It is one of the three famous rock formations on the Yangtze River and a northeastern branch of Yanshan Mountain. It got its name because the rock peak protrudes from the river, facing the sky on three sides, and from a distance looks like a swallow spreading its wings, ready to take flight.

This was an important ferry crossing in ancient times. Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong both stopped here during their voyages south of the Yangtze River. Emperor Qianlong inscribed the inscription "Swallow Rock" here. "Sunset at Swallow Rock" is one of the Forty-Eight Scenic Spots of Jinling in the early Qing Dynasty.

There were originally 12 caves in the rocky mountains near Yanziji, most of which were carved by the impact of the river. Among them, Santai Cave is the deepest, widest and most winding. Inside the cave are scenic spots such as Guanyin Spring and Xiaoyoutian. A stone staircase to the right of the cave leads to Yixiantian.
