Located in northern Yi County, just two kilometers from Hongcun, the Lu Village Woodcarving Building is an ancient village primarily populated by people with the surname Lu. Lu Village is renowned for its large, exquisitely carved woodcarving buildings, earning it the reputation of being China's premier woodcarving building.

The Lu Village ancient residential complex was built by Lu Bangxie, a fourth-rank official during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty. The most famous of these buildings, the " Woodcarving Building ," is a masterpiece of Anhui art. The complex also includes Zhicheng Hall, Siji Hall, Sicheng Hall, and the Glass Courtyard.

The woodcarving building was meticulously carved by two craftsmen employed by the then-owner over a period of nearly 20 years. The intricate carving and artistic achievement are truly breathtaking. The popular Huangmei Opera "Women of Huizhou" was performed with the building as its setting.
