Introducing Gushan Scenic Area

Gushan, also known as Yafu Mountain, is the hometown of the renowned strategist Fan Zeng. It is named for its resemblance to a giant drum. Covering over 2,200 mu (approximately 1,700 mu), Gushan boasts a vibrant mix of forest and Zen practices, with towering ancient cypresses lushly lush and verdant, making it a popular tourist destination for those in the Jianghuai region. A white marble statue of Fan Zeng and the Fan Zeng Pavilion stand on the mountainside. Atop the summit stands the Gushan Pagoda, a seven-story towering and eight-story towering structure. In 1985, with support from the Chaohu Municipal Government, lay Buddhist Liu Guocai initiated a tree planting campaign on the previously barren Gushan. In 1995, the Chaohu Municipal Government, organized by various municipal departments to develop tourism resources, established a new afforestation project.

Covering over 1,700 mu (approximately 1,700 mu), the mountain boasts a vibrant mix of forest and Zen, lushly covered with towering ancient cypresses. It has become a popular tourist destination for pilgrims from the Jianghuai region. About 300 meters up the mountain along Yafu Street lies the main gate of Gushan Mountain. This magnificent, staggered, antique-style structure features a two-story glazed tiled gatehouse with flying eaves, and four red columns below. The gatehouse bears the three golden characters "Gushan Temple," personally inscribed by Mr. Zhao Puchu. Below, on the columns, a couplet inscribed by Zhang Kaifan and written by Fang Keyi reads: "Peak soars to the sky, compassion embraces the earth." These eight characters embody the essence of Gushan's Buddhist culture.
