Introducing Chengzhi Hall

Chengzhi Hall, located in the middle of Hongcun's Shangshui Canal , was the residence of Wang Dinggui, a prominent salt merchant in the late Qing Dynasty. Its grandeur and exceptional beauty are a masterpiece of architecture, particularly its wood carvings, which feature intricate layers and numerous figures. Coated with gold, the carvings appear magnificent, even captivating experts from the Palace Museum.

The entire building is a wooden structure with magnificent interior decorations of bricks, stones and wood carvings. It covers a total area of ​​about 2,100 square meters and has a construction area of ​​more than 3,000 square meters. It is a large residential building that is well preserved.

The house boasts nine courtyards, 60 rooms of varying sizes , 136 wooden pillars, and 60 doors and windows.
