HOLO Senior Card

Anybody know if non-residents are eligible to buy HOLO Senior cards?

The HOLO Senior Card is designed for senior residents of Oahu, Hawaii, to receive discounted fares on public transportation, including TheBus and TheRail services. As of now, the HOLO Senior Card is generally intended for residents of Oahu aged 65 and older. Non-residents are typically not eligible to purchase this card.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age Requirement: The card is available to individuals 65 years of age and older.
  • Residency Requirement: The card is typically reserved for residents of Oahu, and proof of residency may be required. This can include a local address, state-issued ID, or other forms of verification.
  • Non-Residents: Unfortunately, non-residents are not typically eligible for the HOLO Senior Card. While visitors can use other methods of payment (such as a regular HOLO card or cash), they will not be able to access the senior discount.

Alternative for Non-Residents:

  • If you're a visitor to Oahu and you're 65 or older, you will not be able to use the senior discount, but you can still use TheBus and TheRail by purchasing a standard HOLO card or paying your fare directly on the bus.
  • Non-residents can also explore other discounted options, such as the Visitor Pass for tourists, which offers unlimited rides for a specific duration and is more flexible for short-term stays.

Conclusion:

If you are a non-resident of Oahu, you will not be eligible for the HOLO Senior Card. However, there are other transportation options available for visitors to Oahu, such as the standard HOLO card, that allow you to pay for public transit without requiring residency. For seniors, the regular HOLO card will still provide a convenient and easy way to pay for public transportation, just without the senior discount.
