Hotel and Dinner Reservations in Savannah

Heading to Savannah for a high school baseketball event later this week. Need a hotel room. Looking for someplace safe and possibly walking distance to dining and shopping. It will be me and my teen daughters, so safety is most important, but also don't mind paying for someplace a little more upscale. Also looking for a dinner reservation. Maybe not super fancy, but fun and good food. My mid-70s mother will be joining us for dinner. I checked on Olde Pink House, but it is booked up.

Thank you!

For your upcoming trip to Savannah, focusing on safety, convenience, and upscale options is very doable, especially in the Historic District. This area is generally safe, especially along the main streets and squares, and it offers plenty of dining and shopping within walking distance.

Hotel Recommendations:

  • Planters Inn: A boutique hotel right in the heart of the Historic District, highly rated for safety, charm, and personalized service. Walking distance to shops and restaurants.
  • Andaz Savannah: Modern, upscale hotel near River Street. Offers easy access to shopping, dining, and attractions while being in a secure area.
  • The Gastonian: Historic inn with elegant rooms, known for attentive service and a quiet, safe environment. Located near Forsyth Park, perfect for walks and scenic sightseeing.

Dinner Options:

  • Leopold’s Ice Cream & Lunch: Fun, casual, classic Savannah spot. Great for families and teens; more casual than fine dining but highly enjoyable.
  • Elizabeth on 37th: Offers upscale Southern cuisine in an elegant setting, suitable for your mother and teen daughters. Reservation recommended.
  • Treylor Park: Creative, fun atmosphere with elevated comfort food options. Very social and lively, good for a more casual yet memorable meal.
  • Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room: For a classic Southern experience, family-style dining. Not fancy but highly recommended for authentic local flavors; go early as lines can form.

Tips:

  • Since the Olde Pink House is booked, try making reservations at Elizabeth on 37th or Treylor Park as soon as possible to secure seating for a party including older family members.
  • Consider hotels with concierge services; they can assist with dinner reservations and local recommendations.
  • Even in the Historic District, it’s safest to stick to well-lit streets, especially at night. Hotels and main squares generally offer a good walking environment.

With these options, you’ll have a safe, enjoyable stay with easy access to dining, shopping, and sightseeing suitable for both teens and your mother.
