Christmas Eve/Christmas Day Breckenridge, CO

Hi, We will be in Breck for Christmas week this year and we are after recommendations for either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day dinner options. We are a group of 8 with the youngest being 10. We did an amazing dinner at Big Horn in Keystone a few years ago (buffet style) and we were hoping to find something similar. We are visiting from Australia and know Breck quite well ski wise....just needing local foodie suggestions. Thanks 😊

Spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Breckenridge offers a mix of cozy mountain dining and festive holiday experiences. Since you’re traveling with a family group and enjoyed buffet-style dining previously, there are several options to consider, though reservations are strongly recommended as holiday spots fill quickly.

Here are some popular dining choices for Christmas in Breckenridge:

  • The Blue River Bistro: Offers a warm, inviting atmosphere with a diverse menu of comfort food and seasonal specials. They sometimes offer holiday menus around Christmas.
  • The Hearthstone Restaurant: Located in a historic home, it’s a bit upscale and known for hearty American fare with seasonal twists. Perfect for a festive dinner experience.
  • Modis: Contemporary American cuisine with creative dishes. Offers a lively setting suitable for families with older kids and adults alike.
  • Broken Compass Brewing: For a more casual option, they occasionally offer holiday-themed menus and a family-friendly atmosphere.
  • Four Points by Sheraton Breckenridge (Hotel Dining/Buffet): Many local hotels provide special Christmas Eve or Christmas Day buffets, similar to what you enjoyed at Big Horn in Keystone. Buffets usually include traditional holiday options such as turkey, ham, sides, and desserts.

Additional tips for your holiday dining:

  • Make reservations as early as possible, ideally several weeks in advance, especially for a group of 8.
  • Check whether the restaurant offers a fixed holiday menu or buffet, as this can influence cost and selection.
  • Consider timing your dinner earlier in the evening if you are dining on Christmas Eve, as many locals also book early to allow family celebrations afterward.
  • Look for restaurants that offer a festive ambiance with fireplaces or decorated interiors to enhance the holiday experience.

In summary, Breckenridge has a variety of options ranging from upscale sit-down restaurants to hotel buffets that cater to families and groups. For a Big Horn-style buffet experience, hotel dining or special Christmas buffets are likely your best bet, while local restaurants provide more intimate or unique holiday meals. Planning ahead is key to securing a spot for your group of eight.
