Monterey Bay Inn

We are considering Monterey Bay Inn, and we were wondering about the comfort of the second bed (pull out couch). Does anyone (who has stayed there) know if these are comfortable?

We are also willing to take in other suggestions for a week stay in July.

Thanks in advance!

Monterey Bay Inn is a well-regarded hotel located on Cannery Row, offering beautiful views of the bay and easy access to Monterey’s main attractions. Guests generally appreciate the location, cleanliness, and service.

Regarding the second bed or pull-out couch:

  • Many guests report that the pull-out couches are decent for short stays, but they are not as comfortable as standard beds. They may be suitable for children or one adult, but two adults might find it less restful for a week-long stay.
  • Some reviews suggest bringing a mattress topper or extra padding for additional comfort if planning to sleep on the pull-out for multiple nights.

If comfort of the second bed is a priority, you may want to consider booking a room with two standard beds instead. For a week-long stay in Monterey, other hotel options include:

  • InterContinental The Clement Monterey – upscale, beachfront, with multiple room options.
  • Spindrift Inn – charming boutique property with bay views, slightly smaller rooms.
  • Portola Hotel & Spa – centrally located, good for families, some rooms have two beds.
  • Best Western Plus Victorian Inn – more budget-friendly, comfortable rooms, close to downtown.

For a week-long stay, consider whether you prioritize views, location, or room layout. Monterey Bay Inn scores highly for bay views and location, but if the pull-out couch comfort is crucial, alternative room configurations or nearby hotels may suit better.
