Bed & Breakfast

Looking for a b&b for just 1 night on our way to Gunnison mid-Nov. 4 adults. We would like to be walkable to the arcade. We stayed at one many years ago (15 or so) but can’t remember the name. I do remember they had an interesting knife collection displayed. I have little hope of figuring it out & it may not exist anymore.

A hearty breakfast with great strong coffee is a must.

Here are some well-regarded B&Bs in or near Manitou Springs, plus some thoughts on which might align (or not) with your memories.

  • Blue Skies Inn – Address: 402 Manitou Avenue, Manitou Springs, CO.

This is a very charming, artistic inn built on a hillside with garden paths, woodland feel, and hand-painted suites. They deliver a *full hot breakfast* every morning to the rooms. Guests note fresh muffins, a hot egg dish, fruit, and very good coffee. It’s reasonably close to local attractions (Garden of the Gods, Manitou Cliff Dwellings) which suggests it could be walkable to parts of town.

  • Red Crags Bed & Breakfast – 302 El Paso Blvd, Manitou Springs.

Unfortunately, this B&B is listed as permanently closed. Given that, it’s less likely to be the place you stayed — unless your stay was quite a long time ago and the business has since shut down or changed drastically.

  • Redstone Castle – While not currently operating as a B&B, it’s a historic Queen Anne–style building in Manitou Springs. It’s now privately owned, so it’s likely *not* an option for your stay now, though it's interesting historically.

Given what you remember:

  • The knife collection detail is quite specific, but I found no current inn or B&B in Manitou Springs that publicly advertises a knife collection as part of its decor.
  • Blue Skies Inn seems the most likely existing candidate: it's around Manitou Springs, very characterful, provides hearty breakfasts, and is well-loved for its personalized hospitality. However, I found no mention of a knife collection there.
  • It’s also possible the place you stayed *no longer exists* (or has been converted), as seems to be the case with Red Crags.

If you’re open to suggestions for your upcoming trip (1 night, 4 adults, hearty breakfast, walkable to arcade):

  • You could consider splitting into two suites at Blue Skies Inn, since their suites are quite large (many have multiple beds) .
  • If proximity to the arcade is a top priority, you might also consider neighboring inns or boutique hotels — sometimes a boutique hotel may run more like a B&B in feel even if not formally one.

One caveat: because Manitou Springs is relatively small, “walkable to the arcade” can mean different things depending on which part of town you stayed in — so when booking, you may want to check a map of the inn relative to Manitou Penny Arcade (or whichever arcade you meant). Also, if your memory of the knife collection is strong, you could reach out to local historical societies or longtime residents — sometimes inns keep odd or unique decor but don’t advertise it online.
