Disneyland from Carlsbad one day

Hello all,

My husband, 18yo son and I will be in Carlsbad for a few days and wanted to drive to Disneyland for a day. Is this doable or would you recommend staying one night in Anaheim instead? What time would you suggest we leave to avoid traffic? Any other tips for a day trip from Carlsbad?

Driving from Carlsbad to Disneyland for a day trip is doable but it will be a long day. The distance is roughly 90 miles one way, which can take 1.5–2 hours without traffic, but Southern California traffic can easily double that during peak times.

Other tips for a day trip from Carlsbad:
