Thanksgiving

We are meeting our adult children in Arvada for thanksgiving. Need recs for the best grocer store just for normal food, then a place to buy some really good steaks to grill, and lastly a local cheese and other fun nibbles.

We are also wanting to do a fun hike nearby, if there are any folks that could share that info.. weather permitting of course.

Lastly, cute shops that both men and women would enjoy.. thank you!,

Arvada, Colorado, is a charming suburb with a mix of local shops, grocery options, and outdoor activities, making it a great spot for a Thanksgiving gathering with family. Here’s a detailed guide to cover your needs:

Best grocery store for normal food:

  • King Soopers: A full-service supermarket with fresh produce, bakery items, and holiday staples. There’s a large location in Arvada with convenient parking and all the basics.
  • Safeway: Another reliable grocery option for standard food items and pre-prepared meals if needed for Thanksgiving.

Best place to buy high-quality steaks for grilling:

  • Arvada Meat Market: Known for top-quality beef cuts including ribeyes, filet mignon, and New York strips. Staff can offer cooking tips and portion advice for family gatherings.
  • Whole Foods Market (nearby Wheat Ridge/Golden): Offers grass-fed, organic, and specialty steaks that are great for grilling and holiday meals.

Local cheese and other fun nibbles:

  • Golden Importing Company: Although technically in nearby Golden, it’s worth the short drive for artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, and gourmet snacks perfect for a holiday platter.
  • Arvada Cheese & More: Small local shop with curated cheeses, crackers, and specialty food items.

Fun hikes nearby (weather permitting):

  • Majestic View Park Trails: Moderate trails with panoramic views of the Front Range, great for a family-friendly hike.
  • Ralston Creek Trail: Easy to moderate trail along the creek, ideal for a short nature walk with scenic surroundings.
  • Red Rocks Trail (near Golden): About a 20–30 minute drive, offers moderate hiking with iconic red rock formations and beautiful vistas.

Cute shops for both men and women:

  • Olde Town Arvada: The historic downtown area has a variety of boutiques, gift shops, and artisan stores appealing to both men and women.
  • Spirit Hoods: Fun and quirky accessories and apparel for all ages.
  • Front Range Home & Garden: Offers home décor, kitchen gadgets, and unique gift items for a wide range of tastes.
