Sheraton or somewhere else on the beach.

I am meeting friends for a girls week on Maui, but I want to fly in early and have a few nights by myself first before we meet up at our condo. I am thinking of the Sheraton, because it is right at black rock with good snorkeling. I have stayed at both the Westin Hotel and Hyatt condos before, and both were beautiful, but the beach isn't as good for snorkeling. I believe the Sheraton rooms might not be as nice as those, but the beach is more important for this part of my trip. Any thoughts on the Sheraton or another hotel? I am not looking for a condo since I will be in one all the next week with friends.
