Rocky MNP from Granby

Hi. We are staying in Granby and would like to visit RMNP. We are a family of 4 with 2 kids (5 and 8). Would like to visit mostly by car and stop at a few scenic or nice places.

Any recommendations?

Visiting Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) from Granby is very doable as a day trip, especially with young kids. Since you want to mostly drive and make scenic stops, I would suggest focusing on a few highlights along the main roads and overlooks rather than attempting long hikes.

  • Enter through the Grand Lake Entrance: This is the closest entrance to Granby and offers immediate scenic views of Grand Lake and the surrounding mountains.
  • Trail Ridge Road (if open): This is the main scenic drive through the park. Even if you don’t hike, there are several overlooks and pull-outs where you can stop for photos and short walks. Keep in mind that the road opens around late May to October, so check before you go.
