Dinner reservation during Krewe du Vieux Parade

Hi, I've got a dinner reservation for 6:30 at the Crescent City BrewHouse the night of the Krewe du Vieux Parade. It evidently passes right by the restaurant. Assuming it takes 1-1.5 hours to have our meal, would this probably work to catch all/most of the parade? Since this is about the halfway point for the parade's route, which in theory starts at 6:30. Just wondering if I should move up my reservation sooner to like 6. I originally had it at 7:30, and don't want to have to move it up any earlier, unless recommended to see the parade. Thanks!

The Krewe du Vieux Parade in New Orleans is a fun and chaotic event, and it's great that you have a reservation at Crescent City BrewHouse, which is right along the parade route. The parade typically starts at 6:30 PM, but because it's a smaller parade with slower floats, it often doesn't fully pass a given location until about 7:00 PM or later. Given that Crescent City BrewHouse is located near the halfway point of the parade's route, you can expect some delay before the parade reaches you.

With a reservation for 6:30 PM, your plan to eat for about 1 to 1.5 hours should work well to catch most of the parade. However, it might depend on the flow of the crowd and how long the floats linger near the restaurant. If you're really set on catching the parade, moving your reservation to 6:00 PM could give you a little more buffer time, ensuring that you're able to enjoy the entire parade without feeling rushed to finish your meal.

Here are a few points to consider:

  • Timing of the Parade: The Krewe du Vieux Parade tends to be a bit slow-moving due to the size and style of the floats. The parade might not arrive right at 6:30 PM at Crescent City BrewHouse, but it will likely start passing by around 7:00 PM or a bit later, so your 6:30 reservation might still give you time to enjoy the beginning of the parade and the festivities.
  • Restaurant Location: Since the restaurant is right on the parade route, you won’t miss out entirely if you're finishing up your meal by the time the parade hits your area. You'll be able to catch most of it after your meal, but you might miss the first part, depending on how long you stay inside.
  • Moving Your Reservation: If you’re really keen on catching the parade in its entirety, moving your reservation to 6:00 PM would give you a little more flexibility. However, keep in mind that the parade can be very crowded, so your 6:30 reservation may already give you a great view if you're seated in a window or outdoor area.

Ultimately, if you're flexible with your timing and don't mind possibly missing the first few floats, your 6:30 reservation should be fine. But, if you want to be absolutely sure you see the whole parade without feeling rushed, moving it up a little earlier to 6:00 PM would give you a bit more leeway. Either way, you’re in a prime location for a fun evening with the parade passing by right outside!
