Lodging in Kihei

Hello. Advice Is appreciated. I have read through the forums and have still not figured out lodging.

Our family of 11 is planning a trip to Kihei area on December 27. We are looking for a condo/resort that would accommodate all of us. We realize that we will need several condos in the building. We have stayed at Luana Kai twice and loved it but thought we should try something else.

Would like to be right on the beach. Would prefer not to be a high rise building. A nice pool and hot tub is important. Kitchen facilities is a must.

Price is not really an issue for the right place.

Thank you very much.

For your family trip to Kihei, it sounds like you're looking for a place that provides a combination of convenience, beachfront access, and spacious accommodations. Since you're considering multiple condos within a building and want to avoid high-rise structures, here are a few options that might suit your needs:

1. Kihei Akahi

Kihei Akahi is a low-rise, beachfront property that features fully equipped condos with kitchen facilities. It's a great option for families as it offers a variety of units that can accommodate larger groups. The property has a nice pool area, a hot tub, and is just steps away from the beach. The condo complex is well-maintained and offers spacious units that provide enough room for a family of 11 across several condos. Additionally, it's located in the heart of Kihei, making it easy to access restaurants and shops.

2. Kamaole Sands

Kamaole Sands is another low-rise property located right across from Kamaole Beach Park III. This complex offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom condos, many of which are spacious enough for large groups. The grounds include a large pool, hot tubs, and BBQ areas. The property is known for its lush landscaping and proximity to the beach, making it ideal for a family trip. There's also a grocery store and several casual dining spots within walking distance. With kitchens in each unit, you can easily prepare meals for your family. It's a relaxed, family-friendly environment with no high-rise buildings.

3. Maui Banyan

Maui Banyan is a popular property located near Kamaole Beach II, one of Kihei's best beaches. It features low-rise condos with full kitchens, and the resort is well-known for its great amenities, including two pools, hot tubs, tennis courts, and BBQ areas. It’s also close to shopping and dining options. This property’s units are spacious, making it ideal for larger groups, and it offers a quieter atmosphere compared to the busier resorts in the area.

4. Mana Kai Maui

Mana Kai Maui is a beachfront property located just south of the Kihei Boat Ramp. It's a low-rise building with condo units that offer full kitchens, making it perfect for families who want to cook their meals. The resort is smaller and more intimate than larger resorts, offering a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere. The property includes a pool, a hot tub, and easy access to the beach. This could be a great option if you want a less touristy, more private vibe for your family stay. Plus, you’re right on the beach, with excellent ocean views.

5. The Hale Pau Hana

The Hale Pau Hana is another beachfront option in Kihei with a laid-back atmosphere. The condos here have kitchen facilities and are spacious enough for families. The resort features a pool and a hot tub, and it's located directly on the beach, providing easy access to the ocean for swimming or simply enjoying the sun. This smaller, low-rise property is perfect for families who want a more private experience while still being close to the action in Kihei.

6. Sugar Beach Resort

Sugar Beach Resort is a beachfront property located along a quieter stretch of the island, offering a great balance of peacefulness and convenience. The condos here come with full kitchens and are spacious, so you can easily rent multiple units for your family. The resort features a pool, hot tub, and tennis courts, as well as access to Sugar Beach, which is known for its serene atmosphere. It’s slightly further south of central Kihei, but still a short drive to everything you might need.

7. Wailea Beach Villas

If you're willing to explore a higher-end option, Wailea Beach Villas offers luxurious accommodations right on the beach, with spacious two- and three-bedroom units that can accommodate larger groups. The resort offers beautiful pools, a hot tub, and direct beach access, and it’s known for its upscale atmosphere and excellent service. While it’s not a budget option, if price is not a concern and you’re looking for a more refined experience, this could be the perfect choice for your family.

Conclusion

All of these options offer condos with kitchen facilities, a pool, and a hot tub, and are located near the beach, making them ideal for your family’s needs. If you’re looking for a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, I’d recommend focusing on properties like Kihei Akahi, Kamaole Sands, and Maui Banyan, which offer a good mix of amenities and space for large groups. For a quieter, less touristy experience, consider Mana Kai Maui or Hale Pau Hana. For a more upscale stay, Wailea Beach Villas is an excellent option.
