Outrigger Reef Room Question

We have definitely decided to stay at the Outrigger Reef for 7 nights at the end of August. My question is, for those who have stayed there, is the Pacific Tower Ocean View worth the extra cost over a Partial Ocean View room? Thank you!

It sounds like you're about to have a great stay at the Outrigger Reef! When choosing between the Pacific Tower Ocean View and Partial Ocean View rooms, there are a few things to consider that might help you decide if the upgrade is worth the extra cost for you.

Pacific Tower Ocean View: This room type generally offers an unobstructed and more expansive view of the ocean. You’re likely to get a clear view of Waikiki Beach, with the sparkling Pacific stretching out in front of you. The views are typically much more impressive from this room category, especially if you want to wake up to stunning sunrises or enjoy a sunset from the comfort of your room. If you're a fan of beach or ocean views, the additional cost can be worth it for the experience, especially since you're staying for a full week.

  • Pros:
    • Better, more expansive views of the ocean
    • More scenic and relaxing to wake up to
    • Great for those who prioritize ocean views during their stay

Partial Ocean View: As the name suggests, this room will offer a partial view of the ocean, but it may be blocked by other buildings or structures, or it may be more of a side or angled view. Depending on the layout of the hotel and the room you're assigned, you might not get as much of an ocean-centric view as you would in the Pacific Tower Ocean View rooms. That said, it is still a pleasant option if you're mainly looking for a comfortable room to sleep and don’t mind a less-than-perfect view.

  • Pros:
    • Lower cost compared to the full ocean view rooms
    • Still gives you some ocean visibility (great for a more budget-conscious stay)
    • Can still be very comfortable with the amenities of the hotel

Is It Worth the Extra Cost?: It really depends on your priorities during your vacation. If you value having a full ocean view, especially if you're staying at a place like the Outrigger Reef for a full week, the Pacific Tower Ocean View room can really enhance your experience. You’ll have beautiful views to enjoy during your stay, and it can be especially enjoyable to have that view as a backdrop during your morning coffee or evening relaxation.

If you’re someone who can spend most of the day enjoying the beach, dining out, or exploring the island and only plan to use your room for sleeping and showering, the Partial Ocean View could be just fine. The Outrigger Reef is a beautiful property, and you’ll still be close to the action with easy access to Waikiki Beach no matter which room you choose.

Things to Consider:

  • Do you plan to spend a lot of time in your room? If you do, a full ocean view might feel more rewarding.
  • What’s your budget like? The partial ocean view is more affordable, but if the extra cost is within your budget, the ocean view could make your stay even more special.
  • Will you be staying in the room during key times (e.g., sunrise, sunset) when the view would be important? If so, the Pacific Tower Ocean View is a great choice.

Overall, both room types offer great amenities, but the decision ultimately comes down to whether having a full ocean view is worth the extra cost for you. If you’re undecided, I’d recommend calling the hotel directly to ask about the specific views you might get from both categories, as that could help you visualize the difference. Enjoy your trip to Maui!
