Day 41, Testing

The weather remain spectacular. Crystal clear skies echo the color of the Pacific and the gentle breeze creates nary a ripple. I’m sorry NASA but the Sea Of Tranquility today is off shore of Maui and not on the moon. The only sound is that of the Humpback whales waving to a young native boy fishing from shore. On the rocks separating Napili and Kapalua bays someone has erected a 10’x10’ pop up canopy to shield themselves from the 83 degree sun. It is President’s Day weekend and the island is suddenly alive with families. The children are understandably excited and occasionally test the patience of others. But these are days to be treasured. God Bless The Child.

I suspect the kids want to sample more of the delights at the Maui Ku’ia Chocolate Factory in Lahaina. It is owned by Dr. Gunnars Valkris a Bio Tech entrepreneur who developed the first rapid visual pregnancy test. Perhaps it is fitting that he now sells cacao which is believed to be an aphrodisiac. The gift shop was an extremely popular spot on Friday, Valentine’s Day, with a twofer special … a box of chocolates and a tinkle test. They say there is no need to study for this test but I believe a lot of cramming precedes it.

The weather in Maui is described as spectacular, with crystal clear skies reflecting the deep blue of the Pacific Ocean and a gentle breeze keeping the waters calm. The scene between Napili and Kapalua bays is idyllic, with families enjoying the President’s Day weekend. The children’s excitement is palpable, adding lively energy to the tranquil surroundings, but the overall atmosphere remains peaceful and cherished.

On the rocky area separating Napili and Kapalua bays, a 10’x10’ pop-up canopy has been set up to provide shade from the 83-degree sun, indicating the care taken by visitors to enjoy the outdoors comfortably. The area is alive with families exploring and appreciating the natural beauty, including observing humpback whales off the shore.

The playful atmosphere highlights the intersection of science, local entrepreneurship, and indulgence in Maui’s tourist offerings.
