Dazu Rock Carvings - Private Taxi
We are planning to arrive in Dazu Railway station (Dazunan) in the morning then would like to hire a taxi/guide for us to take to both Baodingshan Rock Carvings and Beishan Rock Carvings and then drop us back to Dazu Railway station (Dazunan).
- Any Taxi available in the station?
- Are we able to leave luggage at the station?
Dazu Railway Station (Dazunan) is a relatively small station, but it does have some basic services for travelers. If you plan to visit both Baodingshan and Beishan Rock Carvings in one day, hiring a private taxi is the most convenient option since public transport connections between the two sites are limited.
Regarding taxis at the station:
- There are usually local taxis available outside the station. However, availability may vary, especially in the morning. It is recommended to book a taxi in advance if possible.
- You can contact local taxi services or use WeChat to arrange a driver for a full-day trip to both sites. Many drivers are familiar with tourist routes and can act as informal guides.
- Negotiate the price beforehand; expect a full-day hire (including waiting time) to cost roughly 400–600 CNY depending on the vehicle and season.
Regarding luggage storage:
- Dazu Railway Station has very limited luggage storage facilities, if any. It is advisable to carry only a small bag with you.
- If you have larger luggage, consider asking your hotel (if staying overnight) to store it for you or use a nearby travel agency that offers luggage storage services.
Tips for visiting both rock carving sites:
- Start with Baodingshan in the morning as it is larger and more famous.
- Proceed to Beishan afterward; it is smaller but has unique carvings.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water, as both sites involve some uphill walking.
In summary, while taxis are available, pre-booking is recommended. Luggage storage at the station is limited, so plan accordingly.
