Where to stay on the north shore?
Thank you all for your help on previous questions. We've decided on going back to Kauai (after 10+ years!) we want to stay on the north shore. We are two 40-somethings, no kids, will have a rental car and don't mind driving.
We want to stay in a condo hotel and were wondering what people felt were the best ones in Hanalei, Princeville area? looking for quiet, would be nice if there was a view (mountain or ocean) and a pool/hot tub, and under 300$ per night. i know different room will have different rates/styles/etc, but there is so much more around there than the last time we were in the area and would love a little help narrowing down the focus.
The North Shore of Kauai, particularly Hanalei and Princeville, offers a wonderful mix of scenic beauty, quiet atmosphere, and convenient access to beaches and hiking. For two 40-somethings looking for a condo-style hotel with a view, pool, and hot tub under $300/night, there are several options worth considering. Keep in mind that rates can vary by season and unit type, so early booking is recommended.
Recommended condo hotels and vacation rentals in the Hanalei/Princeville area:
- Hanalei Bay Resort: Located right on Hanalei Bay, this resort offers studio to two-bedroom condos with stunning ocean or mountain views. Amenities include a pool, hot tub, and easy access to the beach. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere ideal for couples.
- Princeville at Hanalei: This complex has a mix of condo units and townhomes, many with ocean or mountain views. Features include pools, hot tubs, tennis courts, and walking trails. Conveniently located near golf courses and local restaurants.
- Napali Villas: Smaller and quieter, offering one- and two-bedroom condos with full kitchens. Some units have direct mountain or partial ocean views. Pool and hot tub available, and the setting is very peaceful.
- Pili Mai at Poipu: While a bit farther south, sometimes rates can be under $300/night in the off-season. Offers spacious condos, multiple pools, and ocean views, but less secluded than Hanalei/Princeville.
- Vacation Rentals via VRBO/Airbnb: Many private condos in Hanalei and Princeville fit your criteria. Look for “mountain or ocean view” and “pool/hot tub” in filters. This option can offer better deals and more privacy compared to hotel-style resorts.
Additional tips:
- Book early: North Shore accommodations can fill quickly, especially for desirable units with views.
- Check amenities: Pools, hot tubs, and proximity to the beach vary by unit. Confirm with the host or resort before booking.
- Quiet preferences: Request units away from main roads or larger complexes if you want a peaceful stay.
- Consider off-peak travel: Rates under $300/night are more achievable outside of peak summer and winter holidays.
Overall, Hanalei Bay Resort and Princeville at Hanalei are the top picks for a combination of convenience, amenities, and views, while VRBO/Airbnb options may give more flexibility and privacy within your budget.
