Tip tour guy

Hi, what it's your opinion , I already got my, just curious.

If I just spend 190 dollars for tour of 2 and will pay some extra fees on top, do I really need to tip tour guy.

Tipping a tour guide in the United States is generally considered customary, though it is not mandatory. Tour guides often rely on tips as a significant portion of their income, so leaving a tip is a way to show appreciation for good service, even if you’ve already paid for the tour itself.

The amount to tip can depend on several factors, including the length of the tour, the quality of the guide’s service, and the type of tour you are taking. For a private tour or a small group, the tip is usually higher per person than for a large group tour.

Since you mentioned spending $190 for a tour for two people, here are some common tipping guidelines:

  • Standard range: $10–$20 per person for a half-day tour.
  • Full-day private tour: $20–$50 per person, depending on the quality and effort of the guide.
  • Extra fees (like park entrance or optional activities) usually are not included in the tip, so tipping is on top of what you already paid.

If the guide went above and beyond—for example, providing lots of information, personalized attention, or handling logistics smoothly—you might consider tipping toward the higher end. If the service was average, a more modest tip is still appreciated. It’s also perfectly acceptable to tip in cash directly to the guide at the end of the tour.

In summary, while you don’t “have to” tip if you already paid $190, leaving a tip is customary and a nice gesture of thanks for a job well done.

  • Tip based on quality: better service = higher tip.
  • Private tours or small groups generally merit more per person.
  • Cash is usually preferred, and tips are separate from tour fees.

Even a small tip is appreciated, and it reflects positively on your recognition of the guide’s effort.
