Disney All Stars

May be a silly question but of the three Disney All Star Hotels does one particularly stand out? Visiting in July with 3 adults and two 12 yr olds and trying to decide which one to go for. Thank you!

The Disney All-Star Hotels in Orlando (All-Star Music, All-Star Sports, and All-Star Movies) are all affordable, fun, and family-friendly options, each with its own unique theme. They are all part of the Disney Resort Value category, which means they offer budget-friendly accommodations with the added perks of staying on Disney property, such as Disney transportation and access to early park entry. That said, they do have some differences in terms of atmosphere and theming. Here’s a breakdown to help you decide which one might be the best fit for your family:

1. Disney's All-Star Movies Resort

Themed around classic Disney films, All-Star Movies is a great option if you're looking for a more "movie magic" atmosphere. There are larger-than-life character statues throughout the resort, featuring characters from movies like Toy Story, 101 Dalmatians, and The Mighty Ducks. This could be an especially fun pick for families with kids who are Disney fans or who enjoy movie-themed settings.

  • Theming: Focused on Disney movies, with fun, larger-than-life character statues and theming.
  • Appeal: Great for families who want a more immersive Disney experience with lots of recognizable characters.
  • Rooms: Rooms are basic but comfortable. Standard rooms have two double beds or one king-size bed, so they can accommodate your group, but space may be a little tight for five people.

2. Disney's All-Star Music Resort

All-Star Music is themed around different music genres, including rock, jazz, and country. The resort features larger-than-life musical instruments and fun details related to the world of music. If you have a family that enjoys music or if the kids are interested in any particular genre, this could be a good choice. The overall vibe here is fun, lively, and energetic.

  • Theming: Focused on music, with sections representing different genres (e.g., Broadway, jazz, rock, country).
  • Appeal: Best for families who enjoy music and want a vibrant, upbeat theme.
  • Rooms: Similar to the other All-Star resorts, the rooms are basic but functional. The layout is good for families, but like the other resorts, the space is a bit tight for five people.

3. Disney's All-Star Sports Resort

All-Star Sports is the most "active" of the three resorts, focusing on popular sports like football, basketball, baseball, and surfing. The large sports-themed statues and icons around the resort will appeal to families who enjoy sports or have kids involved in sports activities. It’s a great pick for sports fans or anyone looking for a more energetic vibe during their stay.

  • Theming: Centered around various sports, with larger-than-life statues and visuals related to football, baseball, basketball, and more.
  • Appeal: Ideal for sports enthusiasts or families with children who enjoy sports-themed experiences.
  • Rooms: Like the other All-Star Resorts, the rooms are simple and designed for functionality, with enough space for your family, though it may feel tight for five guests.

Which One Stands Out?

If you’re traveling with two 12-year-olds, I’d recommend Disney's All-Star Movies Resort or All-Star Sports Resort based on their more engaging and visually exciting themes. All-Star Movies might be especially appealing if your family loves Disney movies and characters. On the other hand, if your kids are into sports, All-Star Sports will definitely be a hit with its larger-than-life sports-themed decor.

Additional Considerations:

  • Dining: All three resorts have a quick-service food court, which is great for budget-friendly meals. If you're looking for more variety, you may want to explore dining options at other Disney resorts or the nearby Disney Springs.
  • Transportation: All three resorts offer Disney’s free transportation to the parks, which is a big plus. Buses run regularly to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom.
  • Pool Areas: Each resort has its own themed pool. All-Star Movies has a feature pool shaped like a reel of film, All-Star Music has a pool shaped like a guitar, and All-Star Sports has a surfboard pool, so each one offers a fun and unique experience for the kids.

Overall, all three resorts offer a fun and affordable Disney experience, but depending on your family’s interests, you may find one theme more appealing than the others. For a more Disney-centric experience with tons of movie magic, All-Star Movies might be your best choice. If your kids are more into sports or music, All-Star Sports or All-Star Music would be perfect options!
