Itinerary Feedback please ... 3 nights mid April

Hello,

We are a family of 3 (couple with 17-year-old) planning our first trip to Page, AZ. We like nature and balance of excursions and down time while travelling. We will be staying at Hyatt, Lake Powell and are thinking:

Day 1: Fly into Vegas, get to Page, AZ and check in (around 5 to 6 pm local time). Chill by the pool or go to Horseshoe Bend (5 mins drive) and check out the sunset.

Day 2: Antelope Canyon Boat Tour (1 Hour) at 9:30 or 11 am. Hike New Wave after that. Lunch/Hotel/Pool. Possibly sunset at Horseshoe Bend or Glen Canyon Overlook

Day 3: Lower antelope canyon (11:30 am) tour. Hotel Break - pool time. Sunset at Horseshoe Bend or Glen Canyon Overlook.

Day 4: Leave for Vegas by noon.

Questions:

-Please provide your thoughts/feedback on the itinerary.

-Any must dos we are missing?

-I am unable to find any sunset or dinner cruises for the time we are there (April 12th - ambitious, 13th or 14th). Any suggestions for the same would be great.

Many thanks,

SD

Your proposed itinerary for Page, AZ, is well-structured for a mix of sightseeing, light adventure, and downtime. You’ve balanced excursions and relaxation, which is ideal for a family trip with a teenager.

Feedback on your daily plan:

  • Day 1: Arriving and checking in, then heading to Horseshoe Bend for sunset is perfect. The short drive and accessible viewpoint make it an easy first activity. If time permits, the Glen Canyon Overlook is another nice nearby option for sunset without crowds.
  • Day 2: The Antelope Canyon Boat Tour followed by the New Wave hike works well. Make sure to account for some buffer time for travel and photos between the two. Pool or hotel downtime in the afternoon is a good idea. For sunset, Horseshoe Bend is popular, but Glen Canyon Overlook can offer a quieter alternative.
  • Day 3: Lower Antelope Canyon mid-morning tour is fine, though consider arriving early to allow for check-in and security procedures. Hotel break/pool time in the afternoon is excellent for relaxation. Sunset can repeat at Horseshoe Bend if you love it, or try a different viewpoint to vary scenery.
  • Day 4: Leaving around noon is reasonable. Make sure to plan enough time for the drive back to Vegas and any airport procedures.

Additional suggestions/must-dos:

  • Consider a short hike to the Wire Pass slot canyon if you want a quieter alternative to the more crowded Antelope Canyon. It’s accessible and scenic.
  • Take a scenic drive or short walk along Lake Powell’s shoreline near the Hyatt for a relaxed water experience, especially if sunset cruises are unavailable.
  • Bring snacks and water for all hikes, especially if doing multiple stops in one day.
  • If your teenager enjoys photography or drone footage (check local regulations), Page is ideal for creative photo opportunities at sunset and sunrise.

Regarding sunset or dinner cruises:

  • In mid-April, some Lake Powell boat tours might not operate daily, which could explain the lack of availability. The Antelope Canyon boat tours themselves can give you a scenic water experience.
  • Check if Wahweap or Lone Rock marinas offer private boat rentals or short guided tours; these may be more flexible than scheduled sunset cruises.
  • Alternatively, enjoy sunset picnics from viewpoints along the lake or at Glen Canyon Overlook for a memorable experience without a formal cruise.

Overall, your itinerary is practical, balanced, and captures the best highlights of Page. Minor tweaks could include exploring alternative viewpoints for sunset and optional slot canyon hikes to avoid repetitive stops.
