Kahaluʻu Beach Park hours?

Is Kahaluʻu Beach Park now closed on Wednesdays? I saw on some websites it's open and on others it's closed. I haven't been to Kona in years and saw how it's changed with having to pay for parking now and now that it may be closed on Wednesdays. I did see that it would be closed May 11-May 19. I was going to be there from May 10, 11, and 12 so now I'm switching my days around but it looks like I may be in Kona on Wednesday :0

Just want to check. TY

Kahaluʻu Beach Park in Kailua-Kona is generally open every day, but there are occasional closures for maintenance or special events. The recent updates you mentioned, including the May 11–19 closure, are specific scheduled closures. Outside of these dates, the park is typically open, including Wednesdays.

Some important points regarding visiting Kahaluʻu Beach Park:

  • Parking: Paid parking has been implemented in recent years, so be prepared to pay at the lot if you drive.
  • Hours: The park usually opens early in the morning (around 6am) and closes in the evening (around 6–7pm), but the exact hours can vary, so it’s good to check the official County of Hawaii Parks website for any updates before your visit.
  • Maintenance closures: Scheduled closures, like the one you mentioned in May, are temporary and specific, so normal weekdays are generally open to the public.
  • Local regulations: Rules about alcohol, pets, and beach use may have been updated, so review signage or online resources before you go.

For your visit on May 10, 11, and 12, you should note that the park will be closed from May 11–19, so you would need to plan to visit on May 10 or after May 19 if you want access. For the Wednesday in your travel, the closure is part of that scheduled maintenance, not a permanent weekly closure.

In summary, Kahaluʻu Beach Park is open most days, including Wednesdays, except for planned maintenance or temporary closures. Always double-check current park notices before heading out to avoid any surprises.
