2025 reservations

The website just changed....looks like reservations will go on sale May 6. Seems similar to last year. Lots to dig through.

For Yosemite National Park in 2025, the reservation system has been updated, but it follows a similar pattern to previous years. Reservations are required for certain areas and activities, especially for peak summer months, and will go on sale starting May 6. This includes both vehicle entry reservations for the park and accommodations inside Yosemite.

Here’s what you need to know to plan effectively:

  • Vehicle Entry Reservations: Yosemite now requires reservations for all vehicles entering the park during peak periods (typically May through September). These allow entry for a specific date and time. Make sure to have your party size, vehicle details, and intended dates ready before booking.
  • Lodging Reservations: Reservations for hotels, cabins, and campgrounds inside the park also go through the same portal. They can sell out very quickly, so it’s important to have backup dates or consider staying just outside the park if needed.
  • Shuttle and Activity Passes: Some shuttle services and guided activities also require separate reservations. Check the website for each service if you plan to take guided hikes, tours, or evening programs.

Tips to maximize your chances of securing reservations:

  • Create an account ahead of time on the official reservation system.
  • Be ready at the exact time reservations open (May 6) for the best selection.
  • Have multiple date options in mind, as weekends and peak summer weeks sell out extremely fast.
  • Consider off-peak hours or mid-week days if your schedule is flexible; these are often easier to book.
  • Check for cancellations in the days and weeks following the initial release; spots occasionally open up.

For more details and to book your reservations, refer to the official National Park Service Yosemite page. Make sure to read the instructions carefully, as the new system may have changes from previous years, including updated fees and reservation requirements.
