Is luggage allowed on #20 Bus from airport to Waikiki?
I've been to Oahu a few times but just learned there's a bus (The Bus #20) from the airport to Waikiki.
Are you allowed bringing luggage on the bus?
We're only going to have two "personal items" (small knapsacks) and two carry-on size pieces of luggage.
Any other issues with the bus that I might need to know?
.
The #20 Bus, also known as the Airport/Hotel/Downtown route, is a convenient and affordable option for getting from Honolulu International Airport to Waikiki. Passengers are allowed to bring luggage on the bus, but there are some practical considerations to keep in mind.
Luggage guidelines:
- Small personal items, like backpacks or purses, can be stowed under your seat or on your lap.
- Carry-on size suitcases can also be brought onboard, but space is limited. They typically need to be kept in the aisle or near the front/back of the bus. Large rolling suitcases may be cumbersome if the bus is crowded.
- Only a reasonable amount of luggage per passenger is allowed. With two personal items and two carry-on pieces for your party, it should be manageable, but you may need to lift your bags onto the bus and hold them securely.
Other considerations:
- The bus can be crowded during peak hours, so travel with luggage may be more challenging during those times.
- There is a small fare (around $3 per adult), and you need exact change or a pre-loaded Holo card.
- The trip from the airport to Waikiki usually takes 45–60 minutes, depending on traffic and stops.
- Buses run on a schedule, but they can sometimes be delayed during rush hour. Check the latest timetable to plan your trip.
Overall, the #20 Bus is a feasible option for your luggage setup, especially if you travel during off-peak hours. Just be prepared to manage your bags while boarding, standing, or finding available space on the bus.
