Downtown Denver / Boettcher Concert Hall
I'm a senior and interested in attending a concert at the Boettcher Concert Hall. I'm from out of state and don't know anything about downtown Denver. I'm curious about parking as all I see are parking garages a couple blocks away. Is it safe to be walking a couple blocks to a garage after a concert? Any info would be appreciated.
Boettcher Concert Hall is located in the Denver Performing Arts Complex in downtown Denver, which is generally considered safe, especially around the arts district. That said, as with any downtown area, exercising typical city caution is wise, particularly after evening events when streets may be quieter.
Regarding parking, most visitors use nearby parking garages since street parking is limited and often metered or time-restricted. These garages are typically within a few blocks of the concert hall, making for a short walk to your vehicle.
- Parking Garages: There are several public garages within a 2–5 block radius, including the Denver Performing Arts Complex Garage, 14th Street Garage, and Champa Street Garage. Rates are generally reasonable for evening events.
- Walking Safety: Walking a couple of blocks is generally safe, especially if you go with a companion. Well-lit streets and some foot traffic remain after concerts, but it’s best to avoid isolated alleys or shortcuts.
- Shuttle or Ride-Share Options: If walking even a few blocks is a concern, you could consider using a ride-share service (Uber/Lyft) directly to and from the garage, or even drop off at the concert hall and pick up later.
- Senior Considerations: Elevators are available in most garages, and some garages have attendants to help. Choosing a garage with a direct and well-lit route to the street or crosswalks can make the walk more comfortable.
Additional tips:
- Arrive early to find parking near the hall and minimize walking distance.
- Bring a small flashlight or use your phone’s light if the streets feel dim.
- If you have mobility concerns, call the garage in advance to ask about elevator locations and accessibility.
Overall, parking a few blocks away and walking to Boettcher Concert Hall is standard practice for visitors. With basic precautions, it should be perfectly manageable and safe for a senior visitor.
