Wailea elua views?

Hi there,

My husband and I have traditionally stayed at ekolu, but are thinking about splurging a bit to stay at elua in early November. It looks like a lot of units actually have a really questionable view from photos (overlooking railings, streets, etc)- we spend a LOT of time on the lanai, so I’m concerned we’d pay extra cash for a worse view. Is it the kind of view where once you’re actually there, you don’t notice the structures quite as much? Is it even possible to have poor views?

I love the idea of being closer to the shops/beach path (we aren’t water people but do a LOT of walking on that path) but can’t determine if the cost is worth it.

Elua at Wailea is generally considered a step up from Ekolu in terms of luxury and location, but views can vary significantly depending on the unit. Because the property is set along the Wailea Beach path and close to shops, some units do face streets, railings, or neighboring structures rather than unobstructed ocean or garden views.

Many guests who have stayed at Elua note that even if a unit isn’t perfectly oriented toward the ocean, the lanai space and landscaping help create a pleasant outdoor experience. The sense of openness and tropical surroundings often mitigate concerns about partial obstructions.

Consider the following when deciding whether the extra cost is worth it:

  • Unit location: Ask the property management or concierge to confirm which building and floor your unit is on. Units on higher floors or at the ends of buildings generally have better views.
  • Orientation: Ocean-facing or corner units will usually have the best vistas, while some mid-building units may overlook streets, other buildings, or parking areas.
  • Lanai size: Even units with partial obstructions often have ample lanai space, which can make the outdoor experience enjoyable for lounging, dining, or morning coffee.
  • Proximity to amenities: Elua is closer to the shops and beach path than Ekolu, so if walking and convenience are priorities, this may offset a less-than-perfect view.

In practice, many guests report that minor view limitations aren’t as noticeable once you’re there. The combination of the tropical setting, the spacious lanai, and the elevated vantage points often makes the experience feel open and relaxing, even if you aren’t directly looking at the ocean. However, if having a pristine, unobstructed view is crucial, request a higher-floor or corner unit explicitly to ensure your money goes toward the best possible view.

Ultimately, the decision comes down to whether you value the convenience of location and upgraded amenities over a potentially slightly compromised view. For many, Elua’s advantages in luxury and walkability make it worth the splurge.
