St. Augustine has a rich history, and even for frequent visitors, there are always new things to explore. Since you love the historical aspects and have favorites like the fort and Villa Zoraida, you might enjoy some of the newer exhibits and walking experiences that have opened or evolved recently.

For your two-night stay at the Renaissance, you are well positioned to access both the historic downtown and the waterfront areas easily. Some new or updated highlights to consider include:

  • St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum: While the lighthouse itself isn’t new, there have been updated exhibits on maritime history and interactive displays that many repeat visitors find engaging.
  • Colonial Quarter: Expanded programming and live demonstrations may offer a fresh perspective even if you’ve visited before.
  • Castillo de San Marcos Night Tours: The fort occasionally offers evening tours with storytelling and demonstrations which provide a different experience than daytime visits.
  • New historical plaques and walking tours: Check out recent additions along the historic district highlighting the multicultural history, including African, Native American, and Spanish heritage.

Additionally, local museums sometimes host temporary exhibitions, so it’s worth checking the Lightner Museum and the Museum of Florida History websites to see if anything coincides with your visit. Even short guided tours or themed walking tours (ghost tours, historic culinary tours) can provide fresh insights without needing a full day.

In summary, while the core attractions remain classics, you can refresh your St. Augustine experience by checking out new museum exhibits, evening programs at the fort, and recently added walking tours. It’s a great way to see familiar sites in a new light during your two-night stay.
