Question about the Hollander vs Avalon

I'm trying to figure out where to stay between the Hollander and the Avalon. How noisy is the pool area at the Hollander? Meaning can you hear the music, etc in the rooms once you've left the area? I love a fun vibe when I'm by the pool, but don't want to hear it in my room. For this reason I'm looking at the Avalon too since I'm guessing it will be the more quiet of the two, but I also don't really want to have to walk across the street between properties after being poolside all afternoon. Hoping for some insight into the noise level, and/or maybe the walk across the way really isn't that big of a deal? Thanks for the input!

Both the Hollander and Avalon in St. Pete Beach have their own vibes, and your choice will largely depend on what kind of experience you want. Here's a detailed breakdown to help you decide.

The Hollander: This property is known for its lively, social pool scene with music, poolside games, and a fun crowd. If you enjoy an energetic atmosphere while lounging by the pool, it’s a great choice.

  • The pool area is quite vibrant, and music is typically played during peak hours.
  • Noise levels can carry a bit, especially if your room is directly above or very close to the pool area.
  • Some guests report that rooms facing away from the pool are quieter and insulated enough that you don’t hear much of the pool vibe.

The Avalon: The Avalon is generally considered a more relaxed, quieter property. It has a smaller, more subdued pool area and is suited for guests who prefer peace and less ambient noise from poolside activities.

  • The vibe is more low-key, with minimal music or party atmosphere at the pool.
  • Rooms are well-insulated from any background noise.
  • The main trade-off is that it is across the street from the Hollander if you want to partake in the more active scene there, which might be a minor inconvenience depending on your tolerance for crossing the street with towels, drinks, or kids.

Regarding the walk between properties, it’s a very short street crossing—just a minute or two—but it is an outdoor walk. Some guests find this negligible, while others prefer the convenience of being poolside without leaving your room.

Summary: If your priority is having a lively pool scene immediately accessible, the Hollander is the better choice, just make sure to request a room not directly above the pool if you want some quiet. If you prefer a more peaceful stay and don’t mind a short walk to the fun pool vibe, the Avalon offers a quieter retreat.
