Cambria is a lovely base for exploring the Paso Robles wine region, and you have a great list of wineries to choose from. Since you’re staying only a couple of nights, it’s best to pick a few that give a good variety of styles and experiences without spending too much time driving.
Here’s a breakdown of the wineries you mentioned and some suggestions:
- Booker – Known for high-quality Rhone-style wines and a friendly, intimate tasting experience. It’s a smaller winery, so appointments are recommended. Great if you enjoy boutique wineries with attentive staff.
- Laventure – Famous for Bordeaux blends and Mediterranean varietals. The tasting room is elegant, and they often offer informative tasting experiences. Worth visiting if you like structured, complex reds.
- Villa Creek – A family-owned winery with a relaxed atmosphere and consistently good wines, especially their Zinfandel and Syrah. Good option for a casual, friendly tasting.
- Denner – Highly regarded for bold red blends and Syrah. The tasting room is small, but the wines are exceptional. If you love robust reds, this is a must-visit.
- Tablas Creek – Very well-known for Rhone varietals (like Grenache and Mourvèdre) and organic/biodynamic practices. The tasting room is spacious and often educational, offering a more structured experience with excellent guidance.
- Tin City (Paso Robles) – A newer tasting room concept with several producers in one place. Great for sampling a variety of wines without multiple appointments. Convenient if you’re pressed for time.
- Austin Hope – Known for big, bold reds, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon. The tasting experience is professional, and they have a striking modern facility. Excellent choice for fans of robust wines.
- Six Mile Bridge – Smaller, boutique winery with quality offerings. Focused on Zinfandel and Rhône blends. Very friendly, often more personal experience than larger estates.
Recommendations for your short stay:
- If you want a mix of boutique and larger experience: Tablas Creek (educational & scenic) + Denner (top-notch reds) + Villa Creek (casual and welcoming).
- If you prefer mostly big, bold reds: Austin Hope + Denner + Laventure.
- If you want variety with minimal driving: Tin City is convenient to sample multiple wines at once.
Overall, for a couple of nights in Cambria, focusing on 2–3 wineries will give you enough time to enjoy the tastings, take in the scenery, and avoid feeling rushed. Tablas Creek is a great “must-do” if you’ve never tried Rhone-style wines, and pairing it with either Denner or Villa Creek gives a nice contrast between bold reds and more casual, approachable wines.
