is it possible sleep on the benches?
Beijing Daxing International Airport is a very large and modern airport, but sleeping options airside (inside the security/transit area before passport control) are limited. Unlike some major hubs, there are no official hotels located inside the airside transit zone.
1. Sleeping inside the transit area
- There are no dedicated sleeping pods or transit hotels inside the airside before passport control.
- Passengers often rest on available benches or seating areas. Some benches have armrests that make lying down difficult, but there are spots near gates or quieter corridors where travelers have managed to rest.
- It is advisable to bring a travel pillow, light blanket, or sleeping bag for comfort if you plan to sleep on benches or floor areas.
2. Lounge options
- Several airline lounges operate in the transit area, but access usually requires a business/first-class ticket or a lounge membership (Priority Pass). Some lounges may allow paid entry, but this is limited and may not be 24 hours.
- Lounges provide more comfortable seating, Wi-Fi, and sometimes quiet rooms, which can be helpful for longer layovers.
3. Alternative: Staying landside
- Since there is no airside hotel, some travelers choose to exit to the landside area and use nearby hotels. Daxing Airport has the Hilton Garden Inn Beijing Daxing and Holiday Inn Express connected via airport shuttle or taxi.
- If you stay landside, you can re-clear security for your onward flight, but be sure to leave enough time for check-in and security for your international departure.
4. Practical tips
- Keep luggage secure—if sleeping on benches, consider a small lock or keep bags close to you.
- Check your gate and terminal information in advance to avoid walking long distances late at night.
- Carry earplugs, eye mask, and other comfort items to rest better on benches.
In summary, inside Daxing Airport’s airside before passport control, your main options are to rest on benches or access lounges if eligible. There are no official hotels or sleeping pods. If comfort is a priority, exiting landside to nearby hotels is the most reliable option.
