Acadia bathrooms

Does anyone know if bathrooms are open in Acadia? We will b at the park Sunday, Oct 5-Tuesday, Oct 7th.

During your visit to Acadia National Park from Sunday, October 5 to Tuesday, October 7, the availability of bathrooms depends on the ongoing park operations. Many of the visitor centers and indoor facilities may be closed due to staffing limitations, but a number of outdoor restrooms remain open for public use.

Here is what to expect:

  • Cadillac Mountain area: Summit bathrooms are generally closed during limited operations, but some trailhead facilities may still be open.
  • Jordan Pond: Outdoor restrooms near the pond house may be open, though check for seasonal closures.
  • Sand Beach, Thunder Hole, and Ocean Path: Outdoor pit toilets or seasonal restroom facilities are typically available.
  • Visitor centers: Hulls Cove Visitor Center and Sieur de Monts Nature Center are closed, so no restrooms are accessible there.

Practical tips for your visit:

  • Plan your day with known open restroom locations in mind.
  • Bring hand sanitizer and tissues, as some restrooms may be self-service or have limited supplies.
  • Arrive early to popular trailheads or picnic areas to ensure restroom availability, as facilities may be limited during the fall season.

Overall, while not all facilities are open, Acadia National Park maintains several outdoor restrooms, allowing for a relatively comfortable visit. Carrying basic hygiene supplies and planning ahead will make your trip smoother.
