Four seasons air from Honolulu

We have been to 4 Seasons Lanai before and loved it, the one at Manele. Considering going again early next summer, I notice making the reservation details seem to include airfare from Hnl on their "private" air transfer. Has anyone done this? Does it just go one way from HNL to Lanai and not the other? Second leg of the trip probably the 4S Hualalai on Hawaii, which would necessitate flying back to HNL and then to Hawaii I am sure. Thanks in advance.

The Four Seasons Lanai at Manele offers a private air transfer from Honolulu, which many guests find convenient and seamless. Here’s what you should know about how it works and how it fits into a multi-island itinerary:

The “private air transfer” is essentially a small, resort-operated shuttle flight from Honolulu (HNL) directly to Lanai Airport. Typically, this service is scheduled as a one-way trip included in your reservation for arrival on Lanai. It allows you to bypass commercial inter-island flights and enjoy a more personalized, direct transfer experience. The flight duration is around 25–30 minutes.

For your return or onward travel, such as transferring to the Four Seasons Hualalai on the Big Island, you generally need to book a separate flight from Lanai back to Honolulu first, as the resort air transfer usually does not automatically handle multi-leg itineraries. From Honolulu, you can then take a regular inter-island flight to Kona or Hilo to reach Hualalai.

Some tips from past guests who have used the service:

  • Coordinate with the Lanai resort concierge—they can help you schedule the return flight and ensure it aligns with your onward travel plans.
  • Plan extra time if connecting to flights out of HNL, as small aircraft schedules can be slightly less flexible than commercial airlines.
  • Check baggage allowances for the private air transfer; small planes may have stricter weight or size limits.
  • Book early, especially for summer travel, as these private flights can fill up quickly.

Overall, the private air transfer is ideal for simplifying the arrival to Lanai, giving you a luxury experience without the hassle of commercial flights. However, if your next destination is another island like Hawaii (Big Island), you should plan your return to Honolulu separately and factor in enough time for your connection to Hualalai.
