Next week
We are coming by ferry (no car) Monday and Tuesday just for a quick trip. We like casual bars and restaurants and we are staying near Bridgeway. We do like music if we can find it. Would appreciate any suggestions on what to do on a Tuesday or places to go? We are older, but in pretty good shape so can walk, but no long hikes. Thanks.
Sausalito is a charming town that is perfect for a relaxed 1-2 day visit, especially without a car. Staying near Bridgeway puts you right in the heart of the waterfront area, which is ideal for walking, casual dining, and exploring art galleries and shops.
For a casual and enjoyable visit, consider the following suggestions:
- Walk Along the Waterfront: Take a leisurely stroll along the Sausalito waterfront. You can enjoy views of San Francisco across the Bay, see the houseboats, and pop into shops and galleries along Bridgeway.
- Casual Bars & Restaurants: There are plenty of options near your stay. Some favorites include:
- Barrel House Tavern – casual pub-style with local beers.
- Salito’s Crab House & Prime Rib – waterfront dining with great views.
- Fish. – excellent seafood in a casual, relaxed setting.
- Poggio Trattoria – cozy Italian spot if you want a quieter meal.
- Live Music: While Sausalito is more laid-back than a big city, some spots do feature live music:
- The Trident – classic bar with occasional live performances.
- Hopwater Distribution – often has local bands and a fun, casual vibe.
- Art Galleries & Shops: Sausalito has many small art galleries worth browsing, especially along Bridgeway. You can enjoy local art, jewelry, and unique crafts.
- Parks & Short Walks: Consider short scenic walks that don’t require long hikes:
- Bay Model Visitor Center – an educational and interesting stop about the Bay Area waterways.
- Sausalito Floating Homes area – walk along the piers to see iconic houseboats.
- Optional Ferry Trip: If you want a different perspective of the Bay, take the ferry to/from San Francisco. Morning or evening rides offer beautiful views of the skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Overall, your Tuesday can be spent at a relaxed pace: stroll along the waterfront, enjoy lunch or drinks at one of the casual restaurants, pop into a few galleries, and take in the scenic views. Since you are in good shape but prefer short walks, the downtown and waterfront areas will provide plenty to see without any strenuous activity.
